Idioma

The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Aromas collection contains a publication and 12 aroma samples to smell.

The publication provides useful information about the definition of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, its olfactory and gustatory characteristics, the aromas that can be detected in a high-quality product, and how to do an Olive Oil tasting.

The 12 aroma samples help you train your sense of smell while having fun. Try smelling the samples in a blind smell test and measure the progress of your sense of smell. Once you have memorized a particular aroma, you will find it much easier to identify it, in its delicate forms, in an EVOO you taste! The aroma samples include 9 aromas frequently present in high-quality EVOO and 3 of the most common defects that make the oil generic rather than "Extra Virgin" Olive Oil.

1. Grapefruit

2. Apple

3. Banana

4. Tomato leaf

5. Artichoke

6. Green herb

7. Bay leaf

8. Almond

9. Blackberry

10. Moldy, damp, earthy defect

11. Rancid defect

12. Moldy, muddy defect from sediment

Why choose TasterPlace

At TasterPlace we offer a new tasting experience to help you get to know the food and drink products you love the most.

Tasting is about training your senses, tasting and comparing different products against each other to identify the unique differences that set them apart, often in a subtle but noticeable way. Tasting can be intimidating at first, but it is something that everyone can successfully accomplish with a little guidance and some practice. At TasterPlace we incorporate real-life tasting tools and the information you need to know into a convenient and affordable product, and deliver it to your home for you to enjoy alone, with your family, or with your friends.

We begin this journey into the world of tasting by examining olfactory aromas, because our nose is the most important tool we have when it comes to tasting. In fact, smell is the first characteristic we perceive when we bring food to our mouth, and subsequently, the aromas that develop in the mouth and are perceived through the retronasal sense of smell, contribute to producing what we call the flavor of a product.

About Tasterplace

Years ago, when we first approached the world of tasting as amateurs, we were a little bewildered: when a sommelier or instructor commented on the numerous aromas of a wine (e.g. those of rose, pepper, licorice or wood), we felt uncomfortable trying to distinguish them ourselves in a product and could therefore only declare whether or not we liked the bouquet or the overall taste of the product. During a tasting of extra virgin olive oil, while we appreciated the pleasant smell of “olive oil,” we could not perceive particular details such as artichoke or yellow apple. These difficulties were significant in the absence of specific skills.

Three years later, TasterPlace was created to help people develop these skills in an easy and fun way. We provide tools to make tasting easier and more accessible by training the sense of smell. Olfactory training is a new way to learn about your subtle preferences and ultimately helps decide how to successfully pair food and drink. Discover our AROMAS collections from TasterPlace.
